Wauwatosa is developing a master plan that may include a new road through the last remaining corner of the County Grounds, known as “Sanctuary Woods."
Local conservationist and writer Eddee Daniels has written an article describing the plan and the distinctive wooded land it could affect.
The plan will be outlined at Wauwatosa Common Council Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 17, 2017. We encourage you to attend the meeting to get informed about this plan.
Contact the Wauwatosa Common Council, the mayor’s office and Milwaukee County supervisors to voice your opinions and feelings.
Daniels notes that, while Wauwatosa is developing the master plan, the land is owned by Milwaukee County. In a resolution passed in October 2016, the county board requested an environmental assessment specific to the proposed road be done by March 2017.
